Swimming
Swimming takes place in winter and spring terms at Battle Abbeys pool situated in Bexhill adjacent to the Prep School. The pool is a 6 lane, 20m indoor pool which has recently had a £250,000 refurbishment and we have received funding for resuscitation Annies and have become an accredited centre. We aim to cater for all abilities to not just improve the general standard of swimming but also to provide opportunities for excellence.
The school enters swimming galas annually for years 7 to 9 for the elite swimmers to compete in. If students wish to further their skill development we have qualified staff to coach students at club level and they ensure training sessions are purposeful and push individuals to reach their potential. There is also opportunity for students to play Waterpolo competitively or recreationally during PE lessons.
Curriculum
Years 7 to 9 work on developing the 4 core strokes: Backstroke, Breaststroke, Frontcrawl and Butterfly. Year 9 are taught personal survival lifesaving skills and year 10 water based activities
One of our Year 10 students Darius Khalesi represents the region for his outstanding swimming ability. He competes primarily in Breaststrokel and takes part in mixed and singles medleys as well.
