Sport The Preparatory School has a number of dedicated facilities. A gymnasium, ample playing fields, a large astro turf pitch and a 25 metre, six lane, heated swimming pool allow for a full and varied range of activities. Physical exercise is an important part of our curriculum.
At Key Stage 1 children have two double lessons of swimming each week and quickly become confident swimmers. They also have two double lessons of games and one of music and movement.
At Key Stage 2 children have a double lesson of sport every day. Two days a week this session is swimming. On the other three days children are introduced to, and coached in, a variety of sports including netball, hockey, football, tennis, cricket, rounders, athletics and gymnastics. Additional sports are introduced as after-school activities.
The Prep School holds a number of sporting events on site including a swimming gala and an annual netball tournament for schools in the surrounding area. We enjoy considerable area, and national, success in swimming.
Pupils are encouraged to participate in a number of sports on a weekly basis and emphasis is placed on teamwork. Regular matches and competitions against other schools build both School spirit and self confidence.
We also hold an annual sports day as part of our June Open Day program.
