Rugby
Rugby takes place on-site on the sports field during the winter term and is taught to both boys and girls. Boys play competitive fixtures locally from years 7 to 11.
Wasps Coachclass Day
‘The trip was very beneficial particularly as it was based on a premiership experience. I learnt lots of new skills and techniques to a higher standard due to the coaching expertise of the Coachclass staff. It was a very insightful day and I would take the opportunity to go again’. James Young Year 8
Curriculum
Year 7 students work on a broad context to develop fundamental core skills and play tag and contact games. The aim is for the students to build confidence and have a positive attitude towards this sporting element. Progression of skills throughout years 8 to 13 aim to produce highly skilled and competent individuals who thrive on team spirit and aspire to be competent in this sport.
A London Wasps Coachclass coach has previously led a training session on-site at Battle Abbey. Students also had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Guinness Premiership Trophy. An annual trip to Adams Park takes place to watch a London Wasps game and includes pitch side photo and 2 hour high quality coaching session with Coachclass coaches.
If students wish to further their rugby development U18 players at our club link Hastings & Bexhill RFC have gone on to play at the Harlequins Academy.
